"Conray 400, a new contrast medium, was experimentally and clinically examined as to its contrast ability and side effects on 62 cases of excretory urographies with intravenous injection of 2S ml. The results were as follows. 1. The three different types of contrast media, Conray 400, Hypaque and Diodrast were respectively diluted in the test tubes from 1% to 10% in an attempt to evaluate their radiodensity. The results on x-rays taken on similar procedure to K.U.B. showed that Conray 400 was superior to other two dyes. 2. Excretory urography with Conray 400 showed the following results. (+++) 85 kidneys (68. 5%), (++)28 kidneys (22. 6%), (+) 8 kidneys (6. 5%), and (-) 3 kidneys (2. 4%). Conray 400 was more potent in human experiences as well as in test tubes. 3. No serious side effect was noted. 4. No serious changes of blood pressure and pulse rate were obtained during excretory urographies. These results suggest that Conray 400 is an excellent contrast medium for the study of the urinary tract."
